Personal Trainer vs Physical Therapist vs Movement Specialist?!

You may already have a personal trainer or a great physical therapist, either working with you or on stand by.   So why a Movement Specialist?

Let’s pretend we’re talking cars for a minute. 

A personal trainer is like having a really good basic mechanic. Dude knows your car well, always makes sure you get oil changes and the xxx mileage preventive maintenance done on time, and may spot potential issues before they arise but doesn’t have the tools or knowledge to replace your transmission or upgrade your engine or completely redesign your bodywork. Everybody needs this mechanic. If you’re alive, you need one for your body. 

A physical therapist is like a collision repair mechanic. (You tripped and tore your ACL.) Something broke or your car got hit, and now it needs to be fixed. You want to know the best in town, because missing one bolt putting a new engine in could seriously damage something else down the line, or a lazy mechanic doesn’t clean out metal filings while installing a transmission, and then you’re left stranded somewhere on the side of the road when those filings destroy something else. You may not need one right now, but you always want to know where to go if that happens. 

Movement specialist is all about seeing your favorite car and thinking “oh, the many things I would do to that car” and making it happen. Modifications. Engine tuning. Suspension tuning. Air foils. Paint jobs. Upgrades. Roll cages.  That’s what we do with human bodies. We upgrade performances by tuning the brain and nervous system. We give clients better stability and support through movement and biomechanical training.  We reduce pain, headaches, and other maladies through finding the root cause of the issue, like visual stress.
