The parietal lobe is allllll about connecting your body to reality.
Sensations > light touch, hard touch, temperature, cold, prickly, smooth, etc.
Reading > that’s important
Proprioception > knowing where you are in space, aka don’t fall off your horse, know where the inbound lines are, etc.
Moral compass > don’t do it, you know it’s not the right thing to do, so you don’t.
The parietal lobe is Liz’s favorite. You wouldn’t know how you existed in life without the parietal lobe. It also lets you feel the world. The parietal lobe helps you know whether you’re jumping 2 feet from the edge of the stage versus 2 inches. Or if you’re about to hit your head on an open cupboard door. Or if you look away while holding reins, your hand hasn’t moved a ton. Or whether the stove top is really on, because it’s hot. Or whether you love your favorite shirt because of the way it looks on you or the way the fabric feels. Parietal lobe lets you experience life.
How do we brain train the parietal lobe?
With a lot of textures and proprioception/reality check activities! We can actually test which textures, temperatures, and sensations your subconscious mind likes and doesn’t like. We can train in proprioception - awareness of where you are in life with certain exercises. We can also combine parietal and occipital training together, which really helps connect the dots in life so you’ll stop hitting your head on things.
