Case study: cyclist overcoming injury

This poor woman had been through an awful hit & run. Broke her pelvis, concussion, dislocated her shoulder. It was awful.

She wanted to get back on her bike, but couldn’t keep her balance. We tried technique after technique and couldn’t make anything.

So we staged a bike in the clinic, and her main doctor happened to walk in the exact same place where the car had hit her as her main trainer was talking through posture with her and caught her eye. Something in that visual path clicked in her brain, and she burst into tears from how much her body just froze in that moment. Bit by bit, all of us worked on pieces of her training while having that visual stimulant their. Slowly by slowly, her brain came to realize that that specific position was no longer a threat, and eventually she was able to balance on a bike again (among all of the other rehab she had to do.)
